About Novorem
Seawater, groundwater and soil remediation are key to protecting human and environmental health in Australia and bioremediation has emerged as the most sustainable technology available for this purpose.
Putting microbiology expertise into the hands of remediation practitioners, Novorem are best placed to become your partner in seawater, groundwater and soil bioremediation.
Remediation is key to protecting human and environmental health in Australia and bioremediation has emerged as the most sustainable technology available for this purpose.
Novorem was established in 2012 to market microbiology expertise to Australia’s remediation industry in support of continued growth in bioremediation applications.
Our primary focus is the provision of diagnostics and cultures for anaerobic chlorinated solvent degradation in groundwater. We routinely detect, quantify and culture organochlorine respiring bacteria using state of the art molecular microbiology and anaerobic culturing techniques.
Like bacteria, we are always evolving. Keep up to date by following us on LinkedIn!
Meet the team
The founder of Novorem Pty Ltd Professor Michael J Manefield is an internationally renowned expert in environmental science and microbiology based at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). He has made award winning contributions to environmental science research and biotechnology development and commercialisation including the biological degradation of contaminants of concern. In collaboration with international academic partners and high profile industry partners and with funding from The Australian Research Council (ARC) his team isolated the world’s first chloroform degrading bacteria and the current suite of organochlorine degrading bacteria available commercially through Novorem Pty Ltd including Dehalococcoides, Desulfitobacterium and Dehalobacter from Australian sites energising the Australian bioremediation industry.
